One Saucy Wench: Aphrodite And Booty Calls, Astray & False Lovers: Part 1

 Photo Link
'Tis the season of April
You thought the loving season is over after February.

I knew that had to be wrong..
The shortest month for love.

Who were they bluffing?
Now we are transcending into the month of love, and beauty, procreation, sexuality, and pure lust.....

This month is dedicated, to a scandalous deity. Yes, admittedly I even adore this mythology deity...

Says a lot about my character huh? and others?  right?

Aphrodite's Aphrodisia was celebrated, by those in her cult the day would progress with intercourse with their priestesses. However this month, is for Veneralia ( which also held, impropriety, to the forefront)

Nevertheless, the history of Aphrodite is just as  scandalous as other Olympian gods, and goddesses.

This deity has two tales of her birth.
Both are questionable..
She appeared from sea foam as the daughter of Uranus, or she's the daughter of Zeus & Dione.

Aphrodite (asteroid 1388) is the one of  the most popular deities. Her sexual indiscretions make it very hard to respect her position as an Olympian goddess. Although, I do comprehend her part in Olympia, reproduction,

With only displays of vanity, and self indulgence.
Yet, many cultures desire to be named an Aphrodite. With so many women going for this particular ideal.
Her faults, and triumphs only give us little insightful excerpts in fables such as "The Odyssey", "The Golden Ass", and  "Iliad" etc...

So before we start, I must say, uncovering the layers of mythology is very difficult..
Because, most of the information is full of contradictions. One poet states this, while one author quotes this.

Its really hard to narrow down the true foundation of each deity. With array of equivalent's. Its hard to explain the true Venus/Aphrodite/Inanna.

Mensis Aprilis was named for Aphrodite.  She's was/is celebrated from Gaul, Syria, Africa, Turkey,German array of places have praised an equivalent, or the Greek Goddess.

I hate to scorn the goddess of beauty, on her most celebrated month. However, I can't write a post without doing my homework.
As Romantique Innocence explores Aphrodite's flowery history that's blooming into the month of Mensis Aprilis...

Detective Nailah Anteros Eros D'arcy Is Back to work..
Even if she does has a terrible cold.. lol.
Enjoy!
One Saucy Wench: Aphrodite & Booty Calls, And Lost Loves..
Part 1:
A Marriage Only Destined For Hades
Hephaistos
To start off nicely.. I must add Hephaistos ( asteroid 2212). Also known as Vulcan..

Hephaistos parentage is questionable.
Hphaistos is Hera and Zeus son, or Hera gave birth to Hephaistos purposely out of jealous.

If Zeus fathered  Hephaistos. That would mean Aphrodite, and Hephaistos may be related.

Hephaistos is the god of blacksmith, artisan, and craftsmanship.

Yet, this was a terrible marriage. Aphrodite hated the sight Hephaistos, like most of the gods. His physical appearance was considered ungodly. Which may have led her to tryst with Ares (Mars) and other gods, and mortals alike.

Aphrodite, and Hephaistos union were only brought up once in "Odyssey". Which mentioned, Aphrodite infidelity, and Hephaistos payback.

The god Helios( the God Of sun)  who travels through the sky and sees all; confesses to Hephaistos that he witnesses Aphrodite and Ares in a sexual act.

Cowardly, Hephasistos only resort to humiliation by using his craftsmanship. A strong invisible net across his bed. That would trap the two lovers, and summons the gods so they can witness their adultery at hand.

Yet, their union is questionable, because in other passages Aphrodite is never again proclaimed as the wife of Hephaistos. Albeit, other deities have been named as the wife of Hephaistos in mythology.
However, he has also been named as the father of Eros.
First Love Was A Lost Love
Nerites a minor sea god, that was once a favorite of Aphrodite. Deliciate features won over Aphrodite, however, Nerites rejected her advances. Aphrodite tried to lure him into her web of seduction, by simply offering him wings.
That didn't work.
Feelings of bitterness, the goddess returns the favour, by turning him into a shellfish. Aphrodite eventually gives the wings to Eros (Cupid my favorite god). Which was designed by Hephaistos.
However, I think there is a solid good reason why she was rejected.
I believe Nerites was gay.

Hermes
He pops up again in mythology, as the lover of Poseidon. The feelings were mutual, for both parties. But in this tale, it was Helios that turned Nerites into a shellfish, out of jealously.
 Just a little insight.
Another One-Night Stand?
Hermes( asteroid 69230) is also the son of Zeus.
known for his quick wit, and clever ideas. Hermes is mostly known for his creation of the Lyre, which became Apollo's most treasured instrument.

Nonetheless, Hermes never marries. Yet, Hermes fathered many children through his liaisons. Its still unsure whether or not, Aphrodite, and Hermes were ever romantically linked.

Albeit, many claim that Hermes, and Aphrodite are the parents of Hermaphroditus( who's story is quite interesting). Born a male, but lust turns him into androgynous figure..

Leaving You With Words From The Most Beautiful Sauciest Wench.......
Aphrodite is quite interesting, like many of the gods. Yet, her blatantly persona of lust, and the pure advancement to desire; makes this archetype an intriguing read, and an adventurous study..
Lady of Cyprus, has a puzzling history. With pieces scattered and many pieces with nowhere to go..
Stay tuned and see if I can finish this delightful puzzle....
