Life is Good, Life Is Pretty!!!!!

You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination.
Next stop, The Twilight Zone!
Season 5
Episode 137
"Number 12 Looks Just Like You"

One of my favorite Twilight zone episodes. It's quite funny, at the beginning of the show when Rod Serling is describing the plot the year is 2000, and it's so funny because plastic surgery is the rage now.
Funny.
This creative story was all about vanity, and how far we are willing to go for perfection!

In year 2000 everyone gets a transformation "Plastic Surgery" so that everyone has a beautiful appearanc. The transformation also slows the deterioration due to age, and extends the person's life span.
The main reason for the transformations is for social structure, harmony, and non prejudice.
"Years before, wiser men than I . . . saw that physical unattractiveness was one of the factors that made men hate, so they charged the finest scientific minds with the task of eliminating ugliness in mankind."
But, in this story we met Marilyn Cuberle.
Marilyn Cuberle a 18-year old; who does not see the benefits of transformations. Marilyn embraces the way she looks.
While, everyone is in awe as to why Marilyn does not want to proceed with her transformation. Everyone is required to get their transformation when they become of age.
Marilyn protest that if everyone one is pretty, no one will be pretty.
And, individuality makes everyone special, without it you will have.........
nothing.

Eventually, Marilyn is forced to get transformation. After her transformation Marilyn seems to love her new look, while admiring herself in the mirror stating
"And the nicest part of all, Val," she gushes, "I look just like you!" The last shots are of her, admiring herself in the mirror and smiling."

This was a very interesting Episode. This is somewhat the life we live now; even though we are all not forced to have plastic surgery.
The media takes care of that department
And, I will not lie to you, I also believe in perfection (well at least someone who tries)  But, that's not in just looks, just the overall person.
This episode hit home with me. Living in a place of perfection would be nice, but can be very overbearing also.

Diversity is always needed, but not always welcomed lol.
If we all did the same things, talked about the same things, looked the same way we would never truly learn who we really are.
Then that would be a waste of life? right?.
In reality some of us do follow what is the norm, and eventually lose our individuality in the mist of it. hmmm.
This is one of my favorite episodes. I love the message of this episode. A must see!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
